Introduces the circuit-QED dual-rail qubit: a logical qubit encoded in |01⟩/|10⟩ of two 3D stub superconducting cavities, coupled and controlled by a transmon ancilla. Photon loss (the dominant error) takes the system out of the single-excitation subspace to |00⟩, which is detectable as an erasure. Demonstrates noise bias strongly favoring erasure over undetectable Pauli errors.
