Coherent control of macroscopic quantum states in a single-Cooper-pair box

First demonstration of coherent quantum oscillations in a superconducting circuit. Nakamura et al. observed Rabi oscillations between charge states of a Cooper pair box, establishing that macroscopic electrical circuits can exhibit quantum coherence. This experiment is the founding result of superconducting quantum computing.
