Coulomb blockade spectroscopy in semiconductor-superconductor hybrid islands provides a key diagnostic for topological Majorana zero modes. By measuring 2e-periodic to 1e-periodic transitions in Coulomb oscillations as a function of magnetic field, this technique probes subgap state parity and near-zero-energy modes in InAs-Al nanowire devices. The method is central to the “topological gap protocol” developed by Microsoft’s topological qubit program.
